Phoenix, AZ, October 16, 2013 – AFS Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of business enterprise and on-demand software solutions for the Food, Beverage and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industries, has appointed Milan Vacval as Vice President of DATUM. Effective immediately, Mr. Vacval will be based at the Company’s corporate headquarters to lead a cross-functional team driving the strategy and roadmap execution of the AFS solution DATUM™.
Introduced in March, AFS DATUM is a portal for real-time data flow between CPG constituents using the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) as a single point of reference. AFS DATUM coordinates all relevant information for each product, stores it within a secure cloud-based database, and automatically transmits the information in a secure manner to designated recipients.
“Milan’s knowledge and expertise in GS1 global standards and solutions will be advantageous as we finalize our go-to market plans for DATUM,” says Kurien Jacob, CEO of AFS Technologies. “DATUM is going to be a game changer in the industry and I’m delighted to have Milan leading our team and the company’s efforts to increase efficiency and visibility in the global supply chain.”
Prior to joining AFS Technologies, Mr. Vacval led the Master Data Management business unit responsible for data management initiatives and global data synchronization solutions. Preceding his tenure at Gladson, Mr. Vacval transformed UDEX — proprietary United Kingdom product catalogue — into a standard compliant Global Data Synchronization Network data pool. He has also represented JDA Software Group in GS1 global standard development and worked with its product directors to define a vision for collaborative solutions. As the Vice President of Product Strategy at Vista Technology Group, he directed the development of overall product strategy for the company’s Trade Promotion Management applications. Mr. Vacval holds a Master Degree in Computer Science from Komensky University in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia.
“I’m intrigued with the technology and functionality surrounding the AFS DATUM product and believe it will significantly impact the CPG industry supply chain,” noted Milan Vacval. “Working for a forward-thinking global solution provider with a grand vision to address the CPG supply chain in its totality, rather than simply addressing individual segments of the industry, is an incredible opportunity.”
