Executive Information System (EIS)

It’s not only important to have information -- you must also be able to access and use information the way you need it. The Astra System allows users to easily and quickly access and analyze critical data using the most advanced tools available.

With the Astra System’s Open Database environment, a variety of flexible and effective reporting and analysis tools can be used. For example, Excel or Lotus can pull data directly, in a single set, into a spreadsheet for a report on the sale of a specific item or to examine general ledger transactions for a particular account. Working with Microsoft™ Word or WordPerfect, users can query the system’s database and pull in all customers who bought a certain product to create a sales letter. And the same kind of efficient data retrieval can be used with Microsoft™ Access or Lotus Approach.

To provide a more effective method of writing financial and operational reports, the Astra System has joined with Crystal Reports, a premier reporting environment that is not only powerful and flexible, but also easy to use. For example: you can select year-to-date sales of all items in the shrimp product class by individual customer, including the customer name, address, and sales rep. You can then page-break by sales rep, and sort it by sales volume in descending sequence. In addition, you’d have the ability to format the report into a professional looking presentation with shading and varying font sizes and types.

Astra Information Systems supplies various General Ledger financial reports in the Crystal Reports format, and is working on developing many other reports for the system that work with Crystal Reports, so users can modify reports to fit their needs without requiring additional programming. In conjunction with Astra’s Data Dictionary for Crystal Reports, Astra clients can easily create sophisticated reports whenever the need arises without need to call a programmer.

For even more in-depth data analysis, the Astra System offers the Executive Information System (EIS), a powerful tool that easily analyzes large amounts of historical sales data in a Windows graphical environment. For example, by only using your mouse, you can dynamically select and drill down through graphs of sales in dollars, weight sold, or gross profit, by sales reps, customers, or items.

Astra’s EIS slices and dices through data to see trends and analyze specific information without having to wade through extensive paper reports.
